Download a Weibo video: use the detail page
The most common Weibo failure is not the tool but the address — a profile or topic page is a listing and does not point at one video. This page covers detail pages versus listings, how short links are handled, and what is out of scope.
How it works
- Open the specific Weibo post that contains the video and choose Copy link from the share menu.
- Paste the address — possibly a t.cn short link — into the VidFable box, unchanged.
- Confirm you have the rights, then press Parse and download.
- Download the file from the delivery panel.
Weibo has two easily confused address types. One points at a single post (the detail page) and carries a post id; the other points at a profile, a topic or a search result listing. Only a detail page identifies one video, so a listing cannot be parsed.
The share sheet often produces a t.cn short link. It is expanded server-side into the full detail-page address, so paste the short link as it is rather than reconstructing it by hand.
Publicly visible Weibo videos are supported. Posts visible to followers only, to a friends circle, deleted posts, and anything requiring a login are out of scope.
A Weibo video usually exposes more than one quality tier. The highest deliverable one is selected; a tier the platform does not publicly return cannot be produced.
Some Weibo source files are large. A single delivery is capped at 250 MB, and media above that limit does not enter the pipeline.
Some Weibo videos are hosted elsewhere, on a platform such as Miaopai. Those are handled according to that external host's public response, so availability follows the host rather than Weibo itself.
A video embedded in a Weibo article or long post is the same case: the article page is a container, not a single video. Open the page the video itself lives on and copy the link from there.
