Download an X (Twitter) video from a public tweet
A single tweet can carry several media attachments, and a video attachment itself offers multiple bitrate variants. This page explains how one is chosen, why an animated GIF arrives as an MP4, and why protected accounts cannot be processed.
How it works
- Open the public tweet containing the video in X and choose Copy link from the share menu.
- Paste the x.com or twitter.com link into the VidFable box, unchanged.
- Confirm you have the rights, then press Parse and download.
- Download the merged MP4 from the delivery panel.
A tweet can attach one or more media items, and a video attachment publishes several variants at different bitrates. The highest deliverable variant is selected automatically, so there is no manual bitrate choice to make.
Content that displays as a GIF on X is actually stored and served as a silent MP4. The file you receive is therefore an MP4 rather than a GIF — that is the source's storage format, not a conversion.
When a tweet carries several videos, the result can be several media files rather than one merged file. The delivery panel lists them separately so you can download each one.
Tweets from protected accounts (where a follow request must be approved), deleted tweets, and content restricted to specific viewers are out of scope. None of it is visible to a logged-out request, so no media address exists to retrieve.
x.com and twitter.com serve the same content. Either spelling is recognised, and neither needs rewriting by hand.
A quote tweet points at the outer tweet, so only the outer tweet's own media can be retrieved. To get a video that lives inside the quoted tweet, open that tweet and copy its link instead.
X caps both the length and the size of an upload, which is why long videos are rare there — and why a delivery from X is usually a small file.
