Why a link is unavailable, and what to do about it
A failed parse is usually the link, not the tool. This page walks through the causes in the order worth checking: is the content still public, does it need a login or payment, is the platform throttling, is it region-locked, and was the link truncated or edited.
How it works
- Copy the full share text or page URL again, without editing any parameter.
- Check that the content is not private, paid, login-only or deleted.
- Try a different public video to tell one bad link apart from a wider problem.
- If the platform is throttling, wait and retry — do not resubmit the same link repeatedly.
When content is deleted or set to private the platform stops returning any deliverable media URL, and no amount of retrying will succeed.
Pages that require a login, a payment or a permitted region never enter the delivery pipeline. That is a designed boundary of the product, not a fault.
A burst of requests to one platform can trigger temporary rate-limiting, which shows up as a parse timeout. Waiting a short while and retrying usually clears it.
A failed parse is usually the link itself: truncated, deleted or private, login-only, or the platform is rate-limiting. Copy the full share text again and retry.
Frequently asked questions
Is a failing link the tool's fault?
Usually not. The common causes are deleted or private content, a login or payment requirement, temporary platform throttling, or a truncated link.
How do I tell which one it is?
Open the original link in a private window: a login page means a login is required, a not-found page means the post is gone or private, and a page that opens normally points to throttling or an edited link.
How often should I retry?
Under throttling, repeated submission makes it worse. Wait a few minutes and retry once rather than hammering the same link.
